Hi! I'm Linda Fletcher, women's fiction and contemporary romance writer. I live in the Detroit, Michigan area, where I was born more years ago than I care to own up to (in my head I'm still in my early twenties, so we'll leave it at that). I'm the oldest of six kids, so I'm a little on the bossy side—as my brothers and sisters (and probably even my mom and dad) would no doubt be happy to tell you. My husband and I have no kids of our own, but my poor oppressed siblings have given me a number of nephews, nieces, and grand-nieces, who I love to bits. In my day job I'm a marketing writer/editor at a company that makes software for tax and accounting professionals. I'm an active member of the fledgling Women's Fiction Writers Alliance (more on that soon, as the WFWA gets off the ground). I'm also a member of the Romance Writers of America. I have two Oakland University Writing Excellence Awards, two New England Writer's Network Humor Contest wins, and an honorable mention in the Writer's Digest Writing competition to my credit. Most of those were for personal essays. I don't remember a time when I didn't want to be a writer. My mom used to tell me and my sister Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Twilight Zone stories instead of fairy tales, so I learned the value of good storytelling at a very young age. As a result, I started writing perfectly awful My Favorite Martian, Dark Shadows, Star Trek, Big Valley, and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea fan fiction pretty much as soon as I was old enough to hold a pen. Luckily, I've come a long way in my writing skills since those days. My friend Shelley Beyer (the co-author of Always) and I share a deep, abiding, and bordeline-obsessive love for New York City and the movie You've Got Mail (which we can pretty much recite verbatim between the two of us if pressed). I also love Walt Disney World, and hot men (TV law enforcement officers are a particular weakness <cough> Danny Pino and Colin Ferguson <cough>). I also have a very patient husband, Larry, who just shakes his head and smiles tolerantly over my crushes, because he knows he'll always be my biggest and bestest crush. Plus I don't rag on him over his love for Emily Blunt and Zooey Deschanel. As I mentioned on the home page, I write both women's fiction and romance because I love to write about strong women, family dynamics, and romantic relationships between men and women who are grown-up, maybe a little bit damaged, and yet still hopeful they can take on the world together. And that's what I hope to bring to you in all the books I have inside just waiting to hit the page (Lord willing and the creek don't rise. You know, I've always wanted to use that saying. My life is now complete). Linda and her husband Larry, the extremely patient and wonderful Mr. Bud. follow me About Copyright © 2012 Linda Fletcher all rights reserved | email Linda@LindaFletcherBooks.com
